Supporting the US!

On August 6, 1945 the United States and the Japanese entered an atomic war, without any warning or any notice the Japanese decided to bomb Pearl Harbor which is located in Hawaii. This nearly destroyed half the town and killed many soldiers. They Japanese and the US had a nonaggression pact because American wanted to stay neutral after what had happened in WWI. It is not beyond the possibility that a million or more Americans could have been killed had we landed. The Japanese had correctly guessed where we intended to land, and were ready and waiting for us. The casualties had to be high, they were waiting for the bomb. One American tanker walked around the area he was to have assaulted had we landed. According to him most of the "roads" marked on his map were not roads, but simply foot paths After this surprise attack that Japan had launched FDR made an amazing speech about why we should bomb them back.

I think if we had not bombed and Hiroshima we could nearly still be in a mini war with Japan. The bomb pretty much made them surrender. Dropping the bombs resulted in fewer deaths than if the United States would have invaded the island. Years after the war, Secretary of State James Byrnes claimed that “500,000 American lives would have been lost” if the United States had invaded Japan. So many people would have died because the Japanese fought to the death because of the samurai code. The US had also been training their men for days on end to fight in this battle so Japan would have been out numbered and had way more casualties then they already had from the bombing. Even thought the bombing did effect so many people and killed so many families, it was justified because it ended WWII. Also, firebombing had killed well over 100,000 people in Japan since February of 1945. Therefore, the nuclear bombing was justified because it ended the war quickly which saved millions from starvation and firebombing.

Little Boy and Fat Man Bombs

The Damage of just one Bomb on Hiroshima

Because the US wanted to remain netural in the war and every Allie and Axis power knew that, it was almost a slap in the face for the US that someone would randomly bomb them. Truman states in his diary, "In simplest terms, what we are doing to Korea: trying to prevent a third world war." He was thinking of the long term goals more than the short term. He was trying to think about more than the present because the present changes everyday. He knew if he did what he thought was best for his country now it would pay off in the long run. In Japans case they didn't think American would bomb them back, they didn't expect any type of attack.

"America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and unbeatable determination to do the job at hand." President Harry Truman.
This quote by President Harry Truman shows that the US was ready for everything and they had revenge on the Japanese for self pride and pride in their country not to win a war. Every single man hard such great courage throughout this whole entire war. The US showed no mercy and they wanted to show everyone that we should never be surprised attacked because we will fight back and we will win
